I personally think this film is in very poor taste. They could easily have made a movie based on real life experiences surrounding Chernobyl and its lasting effects that not only could have fit the Hollywood film structure, but also have raised awareness about what people are currently dealing with as well as the history of the event without making it some sort of ‘freak show’.
Real people were affected and are still affected by this disaster. Real people still suffer the visible, physical effects of this disaster - birth deformities, illness. These are real people who live real lives! This is real life tragedy, a real life horror story that real people are living, and you’re going to make a horror film about it using these victims as your villains (the tourists are “hunted by people mutated by the nuclear blast”)? And your slogan? “Experience the Fallout”? What the fuck. Do you have no respect?
